Goodbye, ACB

by Elizabeth Abken

Wow, I can’t believe that this semester is over. ACB has been an experience. It’s been a good experience, a bad experience, a horrifying experience, and a satisfying experience – all at the same time. These past few months have most of all been a learning experience. And boy, have I learned a lot. Hopefully, my students have learned a lot too.
I have gotten to experience first hand the stresses and rewards of teaching. I have toiled over lesson plans with my partner, trying to make them interesting and exciting for the students. I have gotten satisfaction when on Friday as I left, students told me that they would miss me and asked why I wasn’t coming back anymore.
It’s been a challenge and while I have enjoyed my time at the school, I’m still relieved that it’s over! However, I am thankful for this experience. I know that it will prepare me for this time next spring when I am student teaching, and this time in two years when I will (hopefully) be closing out my first year as a classroom teacher.
